Tosin Akintan, M.Ed., LPC & Practicum Intern

Tosin (she/her) holds a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston and is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas passionate about providing culturally affirming care, and helping others as they cope with life difficulties. Tosin is eclectic in her approach and applies a person centered framework with clients. She utilizes a trauma focused lens that addresses the symptoms clients face, the contexts or systems in which clients function in and how these systems influence their lived experiences.

Tosin wants to help you reach your potential and resolve things holding you back from being authentic. She believes that everyone has the power to create the life they want and is dedicated to walking with you on your journey to do so. Tosin is eager to partner in your healing, and growth with clarity, compassion and authenticity. It is Tosin’s hope to help you find new definitions in ways that will strengthen families, relationships, and individuals.

As an immigrant, Tosin understands the barriers that block access for marginalized populations to therapy and her goal is to provide validating therapeutic services while bringing her authentic self to every session. Resistance and authenticity are part of Tosin’s growth and consciousness, and she is passionate about working with Black and immigrant women, students, clients navigating life transitions, trauma, anxiety/depression, grief and relational concerns.

Outside of her clinical work you can find Tosin repotting a new plant, spending time with her friends and family, dancing at a moments notice and traveling to a new place.
