Talking to Your Children About Weight in a Fatphobic Society

In a culture where fat bodies have long been rendered unacceptable, we are also dealing with the increasingly difficult challenge of eating fresh, healthy food and maintaining an appropriate exercise level in order to stay mentally and physically healthy.  In light of the rampant body hatred that permeates our culture, parents find themselves in a balancing act – raising children to love and value their bodies while also teaching them how important it is to eat healthy and maintain an active lifestyle.
